Perspectives: A 360-Degree Feedback Assessment

PERSPECTIVES is based on research into the skills and competencies needed to deliver top quality performance at work. This multi-rater feedback instrument enables managers and professional/technical staff members to be rated against 17 key competencies, listed in the box below. Ratings are provided by manager, self, and three to five subordinates (team members, associates, etc.)

Here's how PERSPECTIVES works:

  1. The person being assessed distributes the seven packets, each containing the 70-item instrument, a response sheet for computer scoring, and a return envelope.
  2. A computer tallies the returns and generates a complete, detailed report with graphs and charts.
  3. Each person being assessed then selects the competencies to be improved and prepares an Individual Development Plan (IDP), drawing ideas from a resource list of 25 personal development actions.
  4. Participants share their IDPs with their managers and, if appropriate, with HRD. They agree on actions and a timetable for development.

Each participant receives three ratings (manager, self, work group) on these 17 competencies:
